Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc. stock outperforms competitors on strong trading day

Shares of Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc. SPCE, -1.47% rallied 6.27% to $31.87 Monday, on what proved to be an all-around mixed trading session for the stock market, with the NASDAQ Composite Index COMP, +0.55% rising 0.06% to 14,681.07 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.80% falling 0.28% to 34,838.16. The stock's rise snapped a two-day losing streak. Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc. closed $30.93 short of its 52-week high ($62.80), which the company achieved on February 4th.

The stock outperformed some of its competitors Monday, as Southwest Airlines Co. LUV, +1.83% fell 1.54% to $49.74, Delta Air Lines Inc. DAL, +0.81% fell 1.13% to $39.45, and Ryanair Holdings PLC ADR RYAAY, +0.16% rose 0.08% to $109.13. Trading volume (15.6 M) remained 32.9 million below its 50-day average volume of 48.5 M.
